Artjem, who recently turned seventeen, arrived in Montreal in the summer of 2022. He is staying with his grandmother and aunt while waiting for the arrival of his mother and siblings. I met him just for a few minutes as Artjem was not keen on being photographed. I managed to make him laugh a bit and that was a precious moment. His grandmother tells me that the war in Ukraine has left her grandson with a deep psychological wound. I look through the viewfinder of my camera and I see a young and fragile boy who I hope will get through the darkness of today.
